Rents on the increase in Crawley?
01/12/2010 We have seen a definite shift in the rental market over the second half of 2009. Landlords experienced a difficult year last year; with an over supply of property on the market leading to a fall of approximately 10% - 20% in rental values, but this trend is reversing. The shift can be clearly attributed to two main factors; the first being less property available; as the ‘reluctant landlords’ of 2008 have started to take advantage of an ever improving sales market and stricter buy to let options are leading to less new properties coming up for let. The second is an increase in tenants, due to the 'green shots' appearing in the economy and general 'feel food factor' improving. We have seen a number of properties we let in 2008 be re-let for approximately 10% higher in Crawley this year as tenants bargaining power eases with the shortage of supply. |
