Southgate area guide

Southgate is a very popular area, being very central within the town. It is also home to the Inspire office on Southgate Parade.

The area has some 8,100 residents living in just under 3,500 households. Local housing stock is a mixture of some Edwardian and Victorian properties, plus large detached Gough Cooper properties. The majority of the area, which was built between the 1950s and 1970s, supports young to middle aged families.

Expect to pay £300,000 for a 3 bedroom terraced house and up to £800,000 for a large 4 bedroom detached on the sought after Goff's Park Road.

There is a strong demand for rental properties from all types of tenants, who love the convenience of Southgate for the town centre. You can expect to pay around £1,200 PCM to rent a three bedroom terraced house.

Goffs Park is a popular local leisure facility and features a boating pond and lake, pitch and putt - and a model railway. The area also benefits from a community centre, several schools and Southgate Playing Fields, which is home to Crawley’s Skate Park.

St Wilfrids Catholic Secondary School (Ofsted) is also situated in the neighbourhood.
