Tilgate area guide
Formed in 1955 on the south side of Crawley, Tilgate now has a population of around 6,200 people living in some 2,600 households.
The housing stock mainly consists of three bedroom ex-local authority terraced housing. The majority of the residents are younger families - and a tip for any buyer is to find a property with parking or potential for parking, as this can be tight in some parts of Tilgate.
There is a demand from tenants, but not as strong as some other parts of the town.
The area has Crawley's largest local shopping parade and is home to the fantastic K2 leisure centre. There are two local primary schools The Oaks (Ofsted) and Desmond Anderson (Ofsted) - as well as the Thomas Bennett Community College (Ofsted).
